There are multiple manufacturers of FGF 3D printers that process MIM bound powder granulate feedstock (not a bound powder filament). That technology which uses established decade-old proven materials for sintered metals frees up the users from the still-developing limited assortment of filaments in FDM.

    EOS is rolling out Al5X1, a heat-treatable aluminum alloy boasting both high elongation and strength. It doesn’t require quenching, which is a real cost-saver. Skipping the hot isostatic pressing (HIP) step is another win for the pocketbook, given how expensive laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) machines are. EOS is betting that these cost savings will not only make this material a hit in the aerospace sector but also help it break into tougher markets like automotive and electronics. With a UTS of 410 MPa and 14% elongation, Al5X1 has the potential for wide-ranging and colorful applications.#3DPrinting

    We recently manufactured a topology-optimized part, leveraging the capabilities of metal additive manufacturing. This component was produced over a span of 22 hours on the iSLM280 SLM 3D Printer by ZRapid Technologies, using AlSi10Mg material with a layer resolution of 40µm. The slicing was carried out using Materialise's software.By optimizing the distribution of material within a given design space, topology-optimized parts can achieve superior performance metrics such as reduced weight, increased strength, and enhanced thermal properties. The AlSi10Mg alloy, known for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and good thermal properties, is particularly well-suited for applications requiring high performance and durability.
